I Conquered my fear! Just like my recent caving adventure, i am starting to love rafting too. For those who knows me, knew i had phobia with water. I am not confident when i am in water, especially in the sea or river. But i braved myself to conquer my fear. “For things to change, 1st I must change”..so i braced myself to go for another rafting trip. Initial plan was to head for KKB but on the actual day, we were told that Selangor dam did not open its gates, so we changed our destination to Slim River instead.
Slim River is a small town in Perak, Malaysia. It is situated in the southern part of Perak and is 20 km north of Tanjung Malim. That’s why we had to drive another hour to our base point. Slim River is the second biggest town in Tanjung Malim district. The town is surrounded by many small villages.
This was my third experience in white water rafting. Its was fun and exciting. This river is graded 2-3 with more than 5 rapids and 2 major rapids namely “Box Canyon”. I find that this is a “technical” river with many very narrow channels.
Our Raft Guide checks the safety of our life jackets.
Compared to Pedas River i did before, Slim River is more technical but of lower volume. This means that the water is flowing at a faster rate. The terrain is more rocky and channels are narrower. One would need more skills to raft in this river. The raft guide was joking when he gave us safety briefing. He said most people will get slim down after rafting in this river thus the name “Slim River”…. 😀
Our Rafting time now…..
We also had some great time doing ” Rock Jumping”… its was awesome. Thanks to Keith for the “Push”..
The 12 of us have good time rafting with sumptuous 10-course dinner at the end of the trip.
People always asked me why i have so much ENERGY in organizing trips, the motivation behind is because i always ended up seeing more smiling faces than before. The energy i have come from all my adventurous friends – YOU!
Thank you all of you. Hugz
