(17/2/13) Let’s ARong 2013 !

Gunung Arong Recreational Forest is a forest reserve in Mersing DistrictJohor. Visitors to Gunung Arong Recreational Forest can enjoy the stream that runs through the forest. At the peak, hikers are rewarded with magnificent panoramic views of the South China Sea and its neighboring islands. On a clear weather, you can see Pulau Tioman too. This is a 2 hour hike up the 255 metres high Gunung Arong Forest Reserve Mountain.

See this video for the view at the summit.

After the climb, we will chill out at Tanjung Resang Beach. Tanjung Resang beach is normally subjected to rough waves and wind. But the sombre tone of the sand which matches the wild nature of this spot makes it a popular destination.

We will have a meal before we come back to Singapore.

ADvenTure 14 – Let’s ARong!

We were blessed with great weather on that Saturday – 9th June 2012. 28 of us headed off to Gunung Arong recreational forest. Although i have been there many times but i must admit this hike was the best among my Arong adventures.

We took the coastal route this time. Its longer than our normal route but its definitely worth the effort. We need to cross the rivers by swimming across and also crossing the wooden plank, climbing through boulders and ascending using ropes. I am on my four limbs most of the time. Its was really fun.

In this adventure, friendship fostered. Many of us were strangers…we never met prior this trip. However, the whole bunch of us were chatting and laughing sharing our lives as we trekked.

When we were at the 3rd crossing, we had to swim across the river. Some of us can’t swim, but there were help among the group. Many came forward to assist in our bags and others helped some to safely crossed the river. This was where our bonds became stronger.

We completed the whole hike within 5hrs return.
